INNOVATION COMPETITION

PREVENTION, MANAGEMENT AND REHABILITATION OF THE IMPACTS OF NATURAL DISASTERS, AS A CONSEQUENCE OF CLIMATE CHANGE The "Archimedes" Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, reflecting on the enormous destruction of our country from the recent fires and floods, as a consequence of climate change, as well as the significant challenges with environmental, health, social and economic impact that they bring, takes the initiative to contribute to the effort to address these significant impacts, connecting the university with society. In this context, it invites members of the NKUA university community, individual researchers and/or research teams consisting of at least one NKUA faculty member, to submit an application for their participation in the Competition for the promotion of innovative solutions for the prevention, management and recovery of the impacts of natural disasters, such as fires and floods, as a consequence of climate change. The purpose of the Competition is: ▪ to encourage researchers to examine the practical applications of their research results for the development of solutions for the prevention and response to natural disasters, as a consequence of climate change, and ▪ to contribute to the promotion and visibility of applied research that has an impact on both society and the economy. The three winning proposals will receive cash prizes of a total value of €20,000, sponsored by ELVALHALCOR. Specifically, the 1st prize amounts to €10,000, the 2nd prize to €6,000 and the 3rd prize to €4,000. The Chairman of the Proposal Evaluation Committee is Efthimios Lekkas, Professor of Dynamic Tectonics, Applied Geology & Natural Disaster Management, Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, NKUA.
