The newly established Department of Port and Maritime Management (DPM) in the Evripos complex belongs to the School of Economics and Political Sciences of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department's mission is to offer a complex network of high-quality interdisciplinary academic studies, with the production of innovative theoretical and applied research of international standard, focusing on the areas of maritime business administration, port management and administration, as well as businesses and organizations operating in the broader environment of maritime transport and the supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These business sectors are vital for boosting global economic growth and Greece consistently holds a leading international role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students of the Department delve into modern scientific approaches and acquire a broad theoretical infrastructure, applied knowledge and practical skills in a multi-level study framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The acquisition of strong comparative scientific advantages provides graduates with broad possibilities to seek professional opportunities in the domestic and international market, as modern, trained executives of shipping companies, port management and administration organizations, businesses and organizations in the field of maritime transport, the supply chain, but also, more broadly, economics, financial management and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The formation of a modern teaching tool Curriculum<\/a>, the development of actions and collaborations with the wider maritime community and businesses, interdisciplinary research activities and the exploitation of multifaceted synergies, both within the framework of the School of Economics and Political Sciences and with international academic institutions and business bodies and organizations, offer the students of the Department dynamic prospects and attractive development opportunities in all businesses of one of the most dynamic sectors of the Greek and global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the curriculum contributes to Blue Development, the main axes of which are the Blue Economy and the sustainable exploitation of the Marine Environment, while it integrates ports into the framework of Integrated Coastal Zone Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the Curriculum offers the basic background necessary for students and graduates of the Department to monitor the legal procedures and international processes that greatly influence developments in the fields of port management and shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion of their studies, students possess all the critical scientific skills necessary for their contribution to strengthening Greek shipping as an international leading force, as well as to the development of a modern national port system and associated activities that allow the country to emerge as a transit hub with international reach, enhancing and disseminating the broader economic benefits to the local communities involved, while ensuring the sustainability of actions and the protection of the marine environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
